He did manage to summon our friend finally, though Alphinaud and I spent nearly a full year in the First before that happened.

[Alisaie averts her eyes.] One of our number would have collapsed, their body still breathing while their soul disappeared from our realm.

At any rate, no, Alphinaud and I are no strangers to being caught up in a battle that by all rights is not our own. [The corner of her mouth quirks, despite herself.] You might say it's our family legacy.
Please, don't be. [This time, the quirk morphs into a smile.] My grandsire believed that, were we but capable of aid, we had a responsibility to help those in need. It is a philosophy my brother and I share.
Our journey to the First was a strange one, and I know how scared our friends at home must have been before they received word of our health. But if anything I did made a difference to that world, I cannot regret the circumstances that brought me there.
