[BECAUSE LIFE IS CRAZY BUT THIS NEEDS ADDRESSED, A LATE TOP-LEVEL]
[Once everything is said and done and they know who's missing and what has happened to van Zieks, the three of them will end up together again. Because really, what else is there to do but try and move forward...]
...Well. I don't think any of us were expecting that.
We may discuss van Zieks' passing after, but we must needs consider the wider picture first and ensure the safety of the cutting Uriel gave us.
And I think we ought to be clear with each other about who knows of its existence. I don't want to be suspicious of our friends, but his death leaves a void of knowledge which some may seek to exploit. We cannot risk the angels learning of this.
[Because this is FRIDAY and not Saturday and I am crying.]
I think we need to talk to everyone about what we saw. If we need to we can keep the fact that we have a cutting of the tree a secret, but everyone should at least know about Uriel and the chariot guy and the snake. I feel like the other groups have been getting pieces of this same story and we need to put them together.
And...I have the cutting right now, but I think we need to tell at least one or two other people. If only so that we keep the cutting safe, in case we all die.
That I've told Alphinaud should not come as a surprise to either of you.
I also told Spike. [And she's going to just. Fold her arms with a challenging look on her face; fight her.]
I agree with Rin--the information we learned from Uriel is too important to keep to ourselves. The next two days are certain to be chaotic, but mayhap we should convene a meeting when we find ourselves in our next location.
Yeah, we can call a meeting when we move to the next place. I think it'll all make a lot more sense if we can put it with the information from the other 'adventures' people went on.
We probably should be careful to not let the Watchers know though. And, er, we need to tell them we fucked up and need to find another way to save Baraqiel.
[ Alisaie gets an eyebrow raise, though he chooses not to poke that clear challenge. ]
It might help those on the other side too. [ He's not opposed but he is not going to be the one doing the talking when there two people way better at it than him. ]
Then we're agreed. When next we find the time, we shall tell the others of what happened in the Garden. [Beat--and then Alisaie's groaning.] ...Gods, without van Zieks here, that means the responsibility will fall to me, won't it? Since neither of you were there to hear Uriel's words.
[Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu--
But to Rin:]
The Watchers are already aware of our failure. In spite of all that had happened, we sought to follow up on the plans we had made and spoke with Shamsiel and Suriel after the trial had ended. They have said they'll watch for another opportunity so that we may make things right.
[Rin gets along with Spike so he doesn't question it.]
Hey, at least we worked this out before you got hurt or died, yeah?
[Another opportunity does sound nice though, and he nods.]
We'll make it right, if they can find another chance. If not...well, we might be able to get Xie Lian to help us. When I spoke to him, he recognized 'the kiln' as something from his world.
After execution, Alisaie's going hunting for the boys. Is this the best time for this discussion? Absolutely not. Does it need to happen right now anyways? Yes.
Thankfully finding a place to talk isn't hard, since... Susato was her roommate this week. Yikes.]
We've much and more to discuss, and I know not how much time we have. Forgive me for being direct.
How many beyond us know of the cutting? I've told Yuri since last we spoke. And van Zieks told Kim Kitsuragi before his passing. He sought me out just after our last meeting to ask me about its safety.
[I love that Alisaie's the one leaking to the most people still
But she folds her arms, looking between the two of them.]
Ere I start, there will be information for which I cannot reveal to you my source. Pray do not ask me to do so. I swear to you that it may be trusted.
[Beat, to let that settle, but then:]
In each of the worlds we have visited thus far, we have found signs of angels, yes? These angels are said to answer to a higher power, which Uriel called the Authority. I am given to understand that those who returned to us two days ago saw a facility in which scientists sought to follow what they believed to be the "will of the Authority." In doing so, they sought to eradicate Dust from the world.
There is a theory that Dust is free will made manifest. If this is so, this group seeks to destroy our free will in its entirety.
Those of our number who have died are currently within a realm full of Dust. The two of you may know more about this than I; my vision is not yet recovered and so I have been unable to well communicate with the dead.
Those that I have been speaking with have amassed much and more than this--I will share with you what I can, but I wanted to speak with the two of you about telling them of Uriel's gift. I think it a crucial detail that will shape the course of their work and our own.
[For a brief moment Alisaie hesitates, but then she shakes her head.]
Naught I've learned comes from the dead--at least, not directly.
At any rate, sharing Uriel's gift is the most important thing I wished to discuss. We had spoken of keeping our silence until we were certain who we could trust. I would like to give my sources this information, but I am unable to provide you any details about them in return.
I can show you once we've figured this out. I have a question first, even if you can't answer it. Is your source Yuri? Cause if it's not, I heard he's the one coordinating between those who can't speak on their own.
[ This is perhaps a ridiculous statement (and faux question(?), but he does want to see how Alisaie responds. ]
[ It might be a bit late in the evening, but apparently Akira does not forget when he has plans with people that he ditched. Even accidentally. He'll make sure they're some place quiet before he talks.
He's quiet and a bit still, but he's no longer drenched in blood so it's a pretty marked improvement. ]
We got Shamsiel's item. And the next world we're going has a giant tree.
They had all the other places we've been to on monitors. The place with the tree kept showing up with them, and there were notes about a "new world" or something. The garden wasn't anything like a forest, yeah?
There should have been at least two trees in the Garden, and then like...literally every plant grew there and there's a lot of different kinds of trees so maybe it was like a forest? But I always pictured it as more like an apple orchard...
[laughs in Alisaie not having actually seen the Garden... but van Zieks took a photo of it, and we still have it! So between remembering that and conferring with Taf mentally--]
There was a forest. Did you see any walls or columns surrounding it? I can't think it would be the same...
